I currently have a 2 yr old HP 930 printer, will I see a significant increase in photo quality by upgrading to a Canon i960?

i dont know what the HP is like, but two years in technology terms is a long time, so i think the answer is most probably !
Just get a demo print done on an i960 or similar and compare it ...

Definitely yes!!!!!! I have an Epson 1280 which is a pretty good printer but the i960 was a lot easier to work with and faster too.

Most definitely. Have an i950 and S9000, image quality is great. i960 is one of the newest models of 85.x11. Also have had good success with third party inks, which are .5 times cheaper than Canon inks

Just got my I960 a couple of weeks ago and I will never send my photos into any camera shop for processing anymore unless of course they are larger than 8.5 x 11 :)

Ferdinand

I've had an i960 for several months and printed enough pictures to consume four tanks so far. It is an amazing printer that has really added to my photography pleasure.

I support everything said previously about the speed, quality, quiet operation, good bundled software, and reasonable cost of operation. I did a calculation after finishing my first tank (about 150 4x6 with lots of people pics) and it looks like about $.40-.45/print using Canon Plus Glossy paper. The red-eye reduction and continuous trimming features of the bundled software are neat features. "Digital Skin Smoothing" works OK sometimes, but can be a little over-zealous with large areas or significant blow-ups.

However, I had bad luck with one brand of "Canon compatible" photo-magenta ink - skin tones immediately went very yellow. I replaced that cartridge with Canon and the problem went away. Just looking at the two tanks should have told me - the non-Canon ink is distinctly paler in color.

The compatible photo-cyan, and black, however seem to be fine. I think I'll stick with Canon ink for photo-magenta.

I have an HP 895cxi and added a Canon I950. The difference is night and day. I now use the HP for text and web printing. The Canon is the photo printer. The six ink tank system is really nice also. So far I've replaced the two photo inks. That is after printing many photos. The other inks are still going strong.
