S400 new owner question--gets hot

Just got my S400 from Amazon and spent a while going through the manual last night. The camera stayed on (with LCD) constantly for maybe half an hour as I went through its functions. I noticed the little guy started getting pretty hot at the end. Seemed to be from the battery area.

Has anyone else experienced this? I expect this type of constant use will not be duplicated in normal usage.

Yes - this is normal. The IXUS400 does tend to get hot with a lot of constant use.

My A70 also heats up the batteries with extensive use. Heating up is a normal reaction of the batteries under heavy load.

I try to turn off the LCD when I'm not looking at it for a while but don't want to turn off the camera...

Yes, it's normal, and it will grow hotter the closer you get to a flat battery....
