OK, went downtown this morning (pounding snow storm) with the intent of looking at a prime wide angle. Kevin (head con artist at Simons Camera  ) felt so sorry for me that he came up with a deal on a 17-40L that I could not refuse. As well he unburdened me of a Sigma 70-300 APO that was taking up extra room in my bag and my Tamron 28-75.
Now where do I sign up for membership in the "Got L Glass-Going Broke" club :?: :?:
It is a sweet lens though and Kraft Dinner ain't so bad for a few weeks.
Now all I have to do is fill the gap between 40 and 70....maybe a 50 1.8 prime or............
Got to go and sprinkle the cheese powder on my lunch

Yeah, that's a better lens than the 28-135, especially at the wide end. Congratulations.

Its one of those secret society clubs. Members are only recognisable by the one shoulder lower than the other (due to the weight of the camera bag) and the somewhat sruffy attire (L comes before new clothes). Oh and they normally have divorce papers somewhere.

I reckon the dog is saying.. no more decent dog grub for me now!!!

Yeh but many of us here moan about spending too much dosh on our hobby but ‘tis cause for further concern when one never meant to spend it in the first place…tarry with me awhile….
Got the 17-40 when looking for club-style holidays (actually, I should have searched for 70-100 - a more appropriate age-group). As for the Cannon-Extender, I have always been a bit shy in the showers after rugby, so I jumped at this one. Second hand 2.0x (wow – that should pump-up my image) off e-bay so no instructions. With trembling fingers and not a little anticipation, opened box only to find previous owner had stuck a lump of glass in it. Big Ed with its battery-power was equally attractive and equally unsuccessful.

Not sure what comes next..BigMa?

The start of a very dangerous relationship...

I wonder how much Canon's lens sales have skyrocketed since the affordable DSLRs hit the streets.... and since dedicated forums began????

Perhaps people like Pekka, Fred Miranda, and Phil Askey should be getting sales commissions for there efforts!

"L" club members eat a lot of Raisin Bran. . . . you eat the fruit one night and the cereal the next for a veriety in diet. The reason the dog doesn't look too happy is because of the way your looking at his kibble.
