a sigma 28-70 F2.8 ex
or tokina 28-70 aF2.8 at-x pro
I need it for some indoor w/no flash sports any wisdom?
Thanks !

I have the Tokina and I'm pretty impressed with it. Good solid build.
My experience with Sigma has been poor construction, but they may have changed over the years.

I have the Sigma EX and am very pleased with the results. It was a problem for me last year deciding which to buy.
All three lenses give very similar results around f5.6/f8.
The weakest lens in my opinion and other users is the Tamron, despite its heavy advertising.
I would say: 1st Tokina 2nd Sigma 3rd Tamron
My sigma was about £70 cheaper than the other 2, the sigma EX is well built but is a heavy lens.
For the 10d a 24 - 80 would have been ideal (36-120)
Let us know what you decide............

I have that Tamon lens and I must say it gives top-flight results.

I am quite a Sigma fan,. but this particuar range I found the Sigma a little lacking. I think Tokina is making a damn fine lens in this range and I thought from what others have reported that the prefernce was the Tamron in this case as compard to Sigma,. but that is based only on hwta I have read.

I am very happy with the Tamron. It is much sharper wide open than the Sigma 24-70 2.8 that it replaced in my bag.

Additionally, the Tamron is significantly smaller and lighter. It also uses less expensive 67mm filters (same size as my 70-200L f4).

One thing that is annoying on the Tokina is that the zoom ring works BACKWARDS from Canon's lenses. My zoom ins become zoom outs and versa vice-a.

I've got the Sigma EX 28-70/f2.8 and the 70-200/f2.8 and thing they are great lenses for the money. I picked up both of my lenses used (but both in MINT condition...couldn't tell them from new!) and paid just under $700. Not for one lens, for both!!
They're build like tanks and have worked flawlessly for me so far. I can't imagine having any problems. They are a tad heavy and aren't what I'd consider "walk around" lenses. But, if you want to shoot indoor sports, they're working fine for me and I especially like the f2.8.

Have shot thousands of indoor and outdoor sports photos with my 10d and tokina AT-X pro 28-80. Results are always excellent. Have had a few problems with error 99 if pics are over-exposed though. Anyone else had the same problems?
