Ive been playing with basic placement of lights to get an understanding of what does what and how the light bounces around my small garage.

if anyone can suggest setting placement or anything else then that would be great.

My lights are elinchrom dlite 4

first one is side light only light set to 2.5 completly side on.
second is side on with same setting but with back light set at 4.

Should I be worried about the blue bounced light coming back at the model on.

oh and please be kind to the model, not all models are plastic, some have feelings.

a couple more.

First one the light is the same setting 2.5 but at 45 degrees.
second is using a silver reflector.

In your second photo the blue background looks great. I don't have any lighting other than a 580EX camera mounted but I would love to know what you did to get the background to show its color as opposed to looking black. I am trying to learn technique for really pulling the background up a bit in exposure.

the blue background is a large roll of background paper (goto http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=232606 to see my small garage setup which shows a green paper roll)

I positioned the model far enough away from the background so that no light would spill from the main light onto the background, then I used my second light at a higher setting just positioned pointing at the background.
