I'm thinking of a design that i'm assuming is already out there, but if it's not i've uhh..i've got dibs?

Anyways, i want it to have spring loaded feet so when i have it in the air the fold up with the monopod its self. When i set it down i want 3 legs to spread out on the ground.

Make sense?

The sports industry has used a similer design for years for golf bags...i'd be suprised if there isnt anything for photography

I've seen more than one. This is just the first one I spotted at B&H.

Happy hunting.

I own the one that Tom linked. Frankly, its too heavy for a monopod, and too unstable to be a tripod. In order to retract those legs you have tounscrew the top, fold them, stick them in the tube, and screw back the top. I do have a walker golf bag like what timmy describes, and that's actually not a bad idea about retractable, if the overall usability of the pod was improved upon, i.e. weight, i.e. stability of the legs. Though the stability may not be possible, its a trade off.
