can anyone recommend a good collage making tool?
no Photoshop please :)

If you don't want to use PS then your best bet is to use Paintshop close to the same features alot less price.

I think I didn't make myself clear enough.
I need something simple and fast - actually, a collage in a couple of clicks
For family usage, you know :)

Try a program called photoelf, www.photoelf.com, it is pretty easy.

Another option is Canon's Photorecord software. You should be able to put together a collage fairly easily.

Check out Lumapix Fotofusion http://www.lumapix.com/pages/frontPage/FrontPage.shtml , not perfect but might fit the bill.

PhotoMix seems to be the right thing
I'm now being in 'try' mode - any comments on the subject?

You might try Collage Maker, from http://www.galleriasoftware.com/. It works well - a bit like Adobe Pagemaker.

First impression of the program is rather favorable.
Seems the best thing for the purpose.
The question is: how stable is it? any troubles noticed?
