Hi all, as you can see I'm new here and I am also new to digi photography. I purchased the ixus 400 a couple of days ago and so far I love it, easy to use and takes great pics. However yesterday I took a couple of short movie clips with it, they replayed fine on the camera but after downloading to PC they played very jerky and at 3 or 4 times the speed. Any ideas or simple solutions please. Thanx in advance :)
P.S. GREAT SITE!

It could be a codec problem - what player are you using to play them on your PC ?
Try a couple of different ones (eg. QuickTime and Media Player) and see if you get the same problem on each.
PC spec may also be an issue (eg. processor speed, hard-drive speed etc) although my old 700MHz Pentium III machine never had any problems !
I've never had a problem with the movies from my IXUS400.
Bear in mind that they won't look as smooth as movies taken on a camcorder.
Mike.

thanx mike, i have been playing them on windows media. I realise the pic quality wont be crisp but the speed they play at make them unwatchable. And PC speeds are right up to date so shouldnt be a problem.

I've never had any trouble with my still camera movies (various viewers). Try another viewer, or check the settings for the viewer, perhaps it's overriding the clips frame speed. :?

Reformat the card, that should cure the problem

thanx Terry but after trying several cards I narrowed the problem down to the card slot. After alot of delicate fiddling around with a chopstick and a torch I have now realigned one of the pins in the slot that I had bent over. Thanx for all your replies but I'm still getting the speedy movies, only on pc, not tv or cam screen.

Computers are a law unto themselves, sometimes they work..sometimes they do not.

I have a program called Videofactory that I used for my Mini DV Camcorder but it doesn't recognize the Avi's of the the Canon S400. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I use Pinnacle Expression, and it recognises the Canon AVI from my S45.
