Took these this morning using a fuchsia- gives amazing colour backgrounds. Whilst I was doing them I found some goldfish.... ;)

Yes MPE-65 at about 3:1.
As each shot is focus stacked from 2 or 3 shots it takes a few pics but I get very few wasted shots simply because the lens is resting on my hand on the ground. Any waste is normally for composition reasons- I've had a lot of practice doing this type of shot- hardest part is finding the right dewdrops :)

Taken outdoors in-situ on the grass lawn fairly early in the morning. ie Genuine dewdrops on genuine lawn grass. I did try once to add drops to grass tips and failed miserably- they just wouldn't stay.

Thanks HF :)
Was just going out the door when I noticed a photograph of the goldfish on the front of a telephone directory- a few snips later and off down the garden to find some dewdrops- been dying to do a shot like this for ages ;)

Awesome shots as usual :) but the goldfish dewdrops are by far the most creative shot I have seen on the macro forum, great idea and execution

I guess the blurred orange background on the goldfish is the actual goldfish picture on the telephone dictionary? It would explain the wonderful color match.
By the way, much discussion on the goldfish, but I love composition in nr 3. That one uses focus stacking I assume?

As I said above I've been thinking about doing that shot for a while and today spotted an ideal pic to do it with.

Yes the objects- flowers or goldfish pics are placed behind the droplets (upside-down) so you get them as a nice background as in both the goldfish and fuchsia shots.
All the pics are focus stacked. It's just a lot easier to do it like that.

Absolutely amazing! I should have grabbed a box of goldfish crackers the other day instead of an LL Bean catalogue.

You know, my wallet is beginning to have second thoughts of keeping up with the Jone's here. But man what I would do to have that 65!

Outstanding series! The two just prior to the fish though is my fav.

Fantastic work, love all the pics! I'd like the MPE-65 but I bet it's a lot harder than I think to get good results let alone amazing results.
When you say focus stacked I take it you take a photo of the same image but change the focus slightly then merge them all in PS to produce one fully focused image?

Most use CombineZ as focus stacking software.

MPE65 is actually easier to use than you think.

Hiya Brian,
