So what does the little "N" mean. What is the difference between the 2 cameras? I have searched and searched and can't seem to find any explanation. Im sure ill feel dumb when someone tells me, but its driving me crazy!!!!

The MkIIN has a larger LCD, larger buffer, Picture Styles, and supports simultaneous recording of RAW and JPEG onto separate (CF/SD) memory cards.

I also believe that the noise at high ISO is better

If you can find a MII for a decent price, go for it. If you are paying more than $3000.00, get the N

using the discount B&H code I put up in marketplace, the N new is around 3400. you can get a great condition used 2 for around 2300. So it all depends on what you want. It is an improvement, though no new mechanics or sensor or anything like that. Mostly a firmware and LCD update.

so is it possible to do a firmware upgrade to the Mk II and get the same buffer speed and be able to write to both cards (jpeg/raw) at the same time, just like the N version? im not to concerned with the size of the lcd, so do you think i should skip the N version and put the money towards some more glass?

no, it isn't :(
buffer is teh same.
as for what to do, its hard to say. If you don't mind used, that extra thousand could get some nice glass and accessories.
