Which Pelican Case For XTi?

I'm searching for the correct size Pelican case for a Canon XTi with battery grip and kit lens. I don't want something to big as I have a larger soft case. I just want a smaller solid case.

My suggestion would be to place your XTi with battery grip, lens and whatelse you plan to lug around in that pelican. Place it on a table the way you want to organize it, and then measure hight, length and width. Then go to the Pelican homepage (http://www.pelican.com/) and choose the one that is close to your measured needs.

You missed my point. I don't know what size case to get and was hoping others that already has case could suggest one. I know I could do all the measuring but why when I can get actual experience with them.

Perhaps because it's impossible to make a good recommendation without knowing exactly what you plan to put in it?

I am getting the one which is the largest legal limit for FAA regulations for carry on, it comes with the pick and pluck foam so u can customize the location of everything and also, has plenty of room for upgrade.

That is the one i'm going to get for my 30D

Check out the Storm iM2075 which may be what you're looking for. If you insist on Pelican I believe they do a very similar size.

I can get a 1D mark IIN in with a single lens. I got the padded dividers but it comes as standard with foam. So you should have no problem with the XTi fitting.

Sorry if I missed your point, but please have a look at your question again. I didn't want to make fun of your question. If we talk about experience thats another matter. I used pelicases from time to time before I seriously got into photography. Alot of workmen use them to lug around their tools. This says it all. Theyre simply indestructable. My gear is in my signature. I plan on buying the Tokina 16-50mm f/2.8 if it show similar qualities as the Tokina 12-24mm f/4 that i already have. This lens plus what you see in my signatur, I think will fit a Pelicase 1520. If you only want the kitlens and your camera you should be looking at a much smaller version.

As Bill Robertson says, there now are alot of alternatives to Pelicases (which is quite expensive). Google Storm cases, Watercases, Parat cases. All take a severe beating.

I've got the 1520. It holds my 30D, 100-400L with hood, Sigma 105, 28-135, the 50mm Compact Macro, a set of Kenko tubes, a 550ex Speedlite with pouch, spare batteries, filters, a cleaning cloth, my tripod small parts, and other various odds and ends. Best piece of equipment I have and very, very well made.

Plan ahead, then pluck. And I suggest you use ziplocks or other baggies to wrap everything in instead of sliding it all in and out against the raw foam. It's not soft foam and can scratch plastic parts. The baggies also make everything slip in and out of the holes very easily and will keep your goodies cleaner.

hmmm...largest legal limit for FAA...may i know what case this would be? i'm thinking of getting a pelican but im not sure which one's are allowed to be hand carried on the plane...
