Greetings
Been reading the posts here for months--wonderful input and info.
I've been trying to view photos from my 10D on the television (I know this is not what the purists do, but helps when no computer is available.) I can't get any image to show up. I've tried my cable on another Canon camera and it's fine. I've switched between NTSC and PAL with no luck. Checked the TV setting on video. (It worked with the other camera.)
Has anyone else had this problem? Wondering if it's a problem with the camera itself...
Thanks for any input!

Welcome, Bob.
I stumbled across this capability last night at my freind's house. He has a new HDTV and I had a 10D full of pictures of his pets and such. It just seemed like a good idea to see how they showed up on the high definition screen.
I'm sure that you've already gotten the cable connected between the camera "Video out" and the TV "Video In" (the yellow RCA jack). You've probably already selected the proper Video In source on your television.
Turn the 10D on, wait a couple of seconds for it to boot, and then push the [>] button on the lower lefthand corner of your camera (the same button you'd use to play back your pictures on the LCD screen). You should see the image appear on the TV, then about 1 second later, sharpen. Oh, I had mine set at the default NTSC.
FWIW, the High Def TV does a pretty decent job of showing the pics - much better than the standard television resolution.

I just tried it with my 10D and couldn't get it to work either, until I tried switching the RCA jack into the TV. I found mine worked using the white (audio) RCA plug from the camera into the yellow (video) plug on my TV. I guess the jack is outputting wrong on the 10D, because I use this same cable with my Canon video cameras (Optura Pi, GL2) and the yellow plug into the yellow jack works like it should.

Assuming that the 10D does no more sound recording than the Digital Rebel, you should have a mono to RCA cable and not the stereo to RCA that comes with VCRs, G2-5, etc., where they record both sound via the onboard microphone and video/images. If you try to plug a stereo plug(essentially what the white yellow RCA cabel is) into a mono jack you will get any number of undesirable results. Poor or no connection is one of the better options.

Thanks for your replies!
Icoleman, you hit it on the head. I had tried all the variations I could think of, but it never occurred to me to use an audio RCA rather than the video plug. It works fine now. Thanks again.
...so much to learn...
