When selecting the manuel mode on eos 1v (i am sure the same applies to canons digital bodies) does this automatically link to any specific metering mode I.E. evaluative, centerweight ect. or should the metering mode be selected. Sorry for the dumb question.

Did you read the manual?

I'll do this with ya.

1.) Grab manual (for 300D...so i dunno if what we find applies for your camera)

2.) open manual to Index found in back of book

3.) Locate "metering"

Look! we found "metering modes"

4.) Open to correct page (84)

5.) Locate manual mode.

Ok, i quickly located this under one of the three types of metering

<M> under centerweighted

;-)

In all likelyhood, since the 10D allows selection of metering mode in "M" mode, I would imagine the EOS 1V would, too. After all, isn't the 1V a pro camera?

In the manual mode you select your choice of metering just as in other modes. The same goes for autofocus.
