Hi,

I am looking for a bag similar size to the Lowepro 650AW, but with wheels and a handle as an alternative way to transport the heavy contents - one of which will probably be a 400mm f2.8 lens.

It needs to be able to also take a 17" laptop.

I have searched various threads and cannot find anything - short of getting a luggage bag!!

I can't get a 400mm into my Peli 1510 - and so need a second bag - but I struggle to carry a lot due to health issues, and would prefer to pull when I can't carry - or the car is to far from my shooting venue.

I am also looking at the Pelican 1560 - which is fairly new and a little bigger than the 1510 - but not sure what I can squeeze into that :)

Thanks,

Ian

The 650AW has a strap to allow you to piggyback it onto the handle of a conventional "airport carry-on style" wheeled suitcase. You might find the small suitcase handy for the picnic supplies, etc., while on a shoot.

Additional thought - you might get a wheeled computer case and carry the 650AW on top of that.

I would NOT subject my photo equipment to the jarring of carrying it directly in a wheeled case (as in adding wheels and handle to the 650AW case). That's just far too risky in my opinion. For the same reason, I would never strap a camera case directly to a bicycle or motorcycle. I would carry the camera equipment on my back instead.

For travel (as opposed to daily use), the Pelican cases - with appropriate internal cushioning - are by far the best choice unless you are going to carry the camera equipment onto the airplane/bus/train, etc.

Thanks - maybe it will go ontop of the 1510 - not sure though.

Have just found a Tamrac CyberPro Express 5263 - http://www.tamrac.com/5263.htm - so not sure how that compares - there appears to be no mention of it on these forums - so I guess not a popular bag.

The current Stealth Reporter D650AW has a sleeve designed to slide over the handle of a wheeled luggage piece (you're not reliant on the straps) - you can use this as Skip suggested, or get a luggage trolley that is compatible with the bag.

However, I'd say Skip is right - if your main need is to lug around heavy kit on wheels, use an appropriately configured Pelican case or similar. It's worth the small additional expenditure over and above the cost of a 400mm f/2.8.

Thanks - just found out there is a D650AW and a 650AW - I am guessing that the D is the newer model.

The problem is that a peli to take a 300mm, 400mm, 70-200mm, two bodies and maybe a flash, lightmeter and maybe a wideangle lens is too large (not forgetting the wet weather clothing etc.) - I do have a very large peli - but this is far too big for a sports stadium - but it would take everything, and more!!

Oh the joy of choices in life LOL

I guess I need to get my tape measure out :)

The Stealth Reporter D series replaced the original Stealth Reporter series. Skip is using the older Stealth Reporter 650AW, I'm using the newer Stealth Reporter D650AW.

Amongst my bookmarks, I just dug up this (http://www.popphoto.com/cameraaccessories/1873/pma-2006-video-coverage-lowepro-650-aw-bag.html) from when the Stealth Reporter D650AW was introduced at PMA 2006. I found it helpful in confirming my buying decision.

Thanks very much - I notice the page says 650AW and not the D650AW LOL
