I haven't been following these forums too closely lately, so if I'm posting a 'been there, done that...' my apologies.

People have been raving about the LinearSharpen 3.42, and rightly so. Although the colors may be very accurate, that doesn't mean that I really like them.

Personally, I like the colors from the linear LC profile, donated to the internet community via the dpreview Canon SLR forum users, better.

I've found that the LS3.12 colors (so, not the LS3.42's) are so close to the original Canon colors that I can safely apply the 'LC New profile' after running LS3.12. The result is just a tad too bright and too low in contrast and saturation but that's easily compensated for by a standard adjustment.

It's not perfect, but the resemblance with my 'original' LC profiled NonLinear images is remarkable. Your milage may vary, of course; skintones can be a problem sometimes.

So, now I've got the colors I used to have with a bit extra 'punch', and the sharpness from Pekka's totally excellent LS procedure - the best of both worlds IMO. I'm a happy camper! I'll stick with 3.12 for a while!

PS I've no idea how to quantify the ranges for the ICC profiles used in this procedure. I'm afraid that wide-gamut is much too wide for the LC profile, so I've added it after the conversion to AdobeRGB because they're probably closer. Anyone a better idea?
