The Chicago Fire Department responded to an abandoned warehouse fire this past Thursday. Thankfully there were no injuries. Interestingly, several of the news photographers were complaining because of the late fall lighting and the shooting positions available to us. As I listened to them whine, I thought to myself that these images might just have a very cool, unique feeling if a little patience was exercised. I will let you guys decide, but I kind of like them. Something a little different from the fireground.

2. Smoke pushing.

3. As you can see the sun was in our face. The backlit smoke takes on a very different look.

4. Working.

5. Emerging. These guys were working directly over the fire for the duration of the incident.

6. Smoke and Wires.

Sometimes you can't have perfect conditions and have to make the best of the situation. I can't understand why people complain so much. I am just happy to have my cameras around my neck, shooting. Right?

You can find more images from this and another recent Chicago Fire Department Job by clicking on the Box Alarm Images link below in my signature. Have a great one everybody!

shot #1 is the best. I am a former firefighter so I have a great love of department action images.
