I am wanting to modify the the top Index Page such that when the embedded groups are displayed, I would like to also display the group description.
I have traced through Pekka's code down to the string: $group_embedded_content but my php skills (or lack of them)are not able to see how or where this is built up.
Unfortunately by the time template XHTML_Content file displays this the string it is already defined with the embeded groups html.
Has anyone any ideas - or perhaps others have acchived embedded group descriptions by a different means?

Ok - I am starting to feel my way around this superb programme now - and of course to do what I wanted to do above - means customising the appropriate group\embedded style page and appropriately displaying the $groupdescription variable.

there ya go ;) i had been through a lot of that in the last few weeks but didn't have time to trace back thru it and point it out to you... i'm glad that you found what you were looking for...
i also hope that changes folk are making to their styles get "backed up" to another custom style so that the originals are still in place when pekka releases new updates and versions... that way, you can still keep your style and manually update if needed...
the way i do it is to copy the style i want to modify to a new style and then also copy the needed code files over to the directory for the new style... then i start to work on things to get them how i'd like them...

Well I for one am certainly doing it that way. I have learnt my lesson, I customised a lot of the 1.5 pages directly and when it cam to 1.5 upgrades it became a nightmare - so I ended up not upgrading through the release candiate versions.

i feel for ya!
i've found the easiest thing is to take the templates/ee_2_default folder and copy it to the new style... for example, copy templates/ee_2_default templates/foobar... then you can go into your admin styles section and change every instance of ee_2_default to foobar and you should be using all the code in the templates/foobar folder... then it is just a matter of getting down to the coding and making the changes you want...
