In the next day or so I will likely purchase a D-60. I'm now trying to figure out whats the most practical way of storing images in the field. I'm considering a 192mb flash card (179.00)and a Minds@work 3GB Digital Wallet (299.00) Canadian prices. Has anyone any thoughts on this? Another option is a micro drive,a 1GB is around ($600.00 can)
Thanks for any input-Larry

I don't know if you are aware of the file sizes - you don't say what you do or dont' know ;-)

Assuming that you don't, as a guide I expect to get approx 280 D30 RAW files on my 1Gb microdrive. The D60 is twice the pixel size, so expect that to be halved.

I don't shoot JPEG, but my D30 estimates that I can get around 770 lagre-fine JPEGs on the same microdrive - again halve that for the D60.

Based on those figures, I reckon you'll get about 20-25 RAW images or about 50 large-fine JPEGS on that 192Mb card before you have to empty it.

Not the road I'd choose to go down, but then I'm skipping the D60 anyway.

For my money, I'd go with the digital wallet & memory card - while there are people that swear by the microdrives, they are still a 'fragile' device and can experience severe problems...

I'm facing a week on an island just off the coast of Queensland, Australia with around 200mb of flash cards and a ton of photo opportunities, but nothing available to dump the pics to once I fill them - am attempting to convince the wife that it's time I got a laptop... :-)

Cheers,
