I just purchased a Canon A80, and I am having problems getting the pictures to look right.
When taking a picture of myself, my hair and the stubble on my face looks very "dusty" I guess you could say. It seems to be the camera trying to capture the reflections of the hair.
As I zoom in on the pic on piocture viewer, my hair looks fine, however my stubble seems to be overblown in little white dots on my face--no matter how close I zoom in. Is there anyway to get rid of this, or do I just need to shave more often? :D
Thanks in advance,
Brett

I don't know, but I would bet you're getting artifacts when viewing the picture normal size on the LCD. This will show up as multi-coloured specs and is due to the detail being too fine for the LCD pixels to show correctly. You can easily see this in tight patterns such as TV snow, wire mesh, and some cloth patterns like small checks.
Download your image to the PC, and all should show fine at 100% resolution.

No, this is during viewing the pic on my computer.
On the LCD, it actually looks fine. It's once I get it larger and on the computer that it starts to show up.
At 100%, my hair looks fine like I said, but the stubble still shows up as little white dots on my face.

Well, that was my guess... I don't have any other idea what it could be. I guess a sample image might help.
Sure sounds strange...

Is it like that on all ISOs? (same for 50 and 400 ?)

Hi, we also bought an A80 recently and are experimenting. We also found that when zoomed out on the viewing software that the hair looks odd blond looks like silver specks. From reading around it looks like some software is better than others. Using a 'resample' on the software does give a better looking image.
