You can do exactly this. You can get it to take shots for any interval you like up to a limit which I think is 99 hours. You can get it to do it for as long as you have battery power or for a set number of shots with the interval. E.g. every 5 minutes for ever or every five minutes but say for only 15 shots. Or even every five minutes for 15 shots but not to start for 8 hours.

If you are using flash, I believe it can even wake a flash up out of power saving mode before a shot is about to be triggered (although I haven't tried that).

Also works nicely as a simple cable release (but expensive if used just for that).

More details here (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/tc-80n3.shtml)

Cheers

Yes you can do that. It is a nifty little tool to have. Expensive though, in my opinion. I really just needed the remote trigger, but opted for the timer just because...
I tested it a few times doing different shots, number of shots, etc. over time and it worked great.
Backlit too.

one thing that confused me a bit is that the unit stays powered on once the battery is in place. (there is no on/off switch.) The battery should last a few years according to the manual...

Yup.... a great tool. The non power on/off thing is a little discomforting. I just remove the battery and store it in my bag after I'm finished using the remote since I only use it on special occations.

:)
