thank you for the judging Action Man :)

I never meant for the picture which I put on to be considered
I was just supporting the challenge as I took the picture with the 300D by mistake this week and never realised until I was resizing it today
(and then I go and resized it wrong )

really sorry about that
until you mentioned it I never thought about the size as I did not look in at the picture on the forum after I posted
(maybe would have noticed if I had)

thanks again
& congratulations all
~ enjoyed the entries

Sorry Marie _ very nice image though :D ...

it was as I was looking up the exif when resizing that the shock waves happened ...wrong camera

never hit me until then:lol:

( must have got such a shock that the resizing properly went right out the window)

thank you very much for the kind words regardless

Congratulations to the winners. Excellent shots and well-deserving of top honors. Rpolitsr's shot reminds me of a northern lights display.

Those spiders are called jumpers? They perform awesome jumps, indeed. Post some more?? he he… it is my best and only shot of them yet. They jump always before I press the shutter.

Good luck with your Nikon. I hope you will add another small Canon to your collection and return to these challenges after a while.

I think this was an interesting topic.

I shot the same subject twice, each time with a slightly different approach.

For the first shot (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_2/pictures/potnentries/93_casitasLR_8594.jpg) (not posted) I used a pocket size flashlight with a clear tungsten bulb and a wide soft beam that I swept through the small town with the light itself out of camera.

I liked the result, but as this was my first time at light painting, I made a second shot (my actual entry) more in the style of the photos already posted:

The light source was a mad LED which, at a frantic rate, switches colors in different patterns and nicely lighted the white walls of the ceramic town aligned in the darkened bricks of the chimney.

I swept the LED this time inside of the camera’s field of view but above the small houses.

Below, an animated gif of several shots of the LED:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2484/4023560895_e77b6e7dcf_o.gif

and here, a long exposure shot (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_2/pictures/potnentries/93_multicolorLED_8595.jpg) (10 sec.) of the LED kept still in front of the little ceramic houses.

I liked mainly the golden reflections on the wood of Boutty’s photo and the dramatic shadows of an33sh goddess. Those were my ‘models to follow’, so to speak. I also liked MegaTrixel Star Bright, but a small description of how it was shot would be appreciated.

thanks guys...

my entry was a bit cheesy but nevertheless, it was inspired by all those old indian movies which could'nt do without a scene showing a lightning bolt/ray coming from a goddess's head to punish the evil doer..hehehe... and mind you, there were a LOT of those low budget films till about 7 years back...

congrats all...wats the next onE???!?!?!?

btw, can anyone tell me,if im taking a time exposure of a highway, and at some spots, there is always a lot of light, then, it comes out too overcooked at that spot...will some filter do the trick?

Thanks rpolitsr!

This challenge was a tough one for me. But that's good, I need to be forced out of my comfort zone from time to time. I simply tried to capture lens flare from a laser pointer pointed from off-center toward my lens. The star-effect is made by using the smallest aperature (f8 - too bad it won't go smaller than that). In my opinion, it's kind of a noisy and fuzzy shot, but it was fun trying.

Boutty, How did you take your shot?

My pardon for the late feedback. Busy busy at work...

Congratulations to GPete, gewb & an33sh for the top places. Well done to all for your fab photos!

rpolitsr, I'd love to see you outline the town halls and churches of your city with the mad LED above the small houses! Good job!

Boutty, How did you take your shot?
Cheers MegaTrixel for asking. I certainly have my share of fun for this contest! Thanks Action_Man for the most fun challenge! :p My shot was taken my company's locker room with a proudly own $2 shop mechanical flash light. My G6 was mounted to my tripod with 10 secs exposure time, the timer was utilised (10 secs) to avoid the movement and enough time for my to switch off the light and get ready to 'paint' my ghost image. I did email the engineer department with the sighting of ghost with the image attached, but they took no notice of me...
