I like this, as this kid was so mesmerized by the beauty of the Botanical Garden that he didn’t know where to look. He knelt down in front of the fountain, but then looked everywhere but. Also, as soon as he heard the shutter, he ran around the fountain to where I was shooting from, stood eye to eye with me, and opened up a big grin. Obviously has a acquaintance with cameras.

I don't know if I like it or dislike it............
The kids' expression is that of disinterest...........
The overblown highlights of the water takes away from your focal point....
The whole composition is not well balanced (IMO).
And the sun is hitting the kids hair.............it would've been better the other way around.

I think we loose a lot of impact here by not actually seeing the water jet. It's just a blurry blob of white. What interest is there? None. If it were sharp and exposed so that we could examine the folds of the water, you would have a great conflict between the inattention of the child and attention grabbing nature of the water fountain. Due to lighting, this would be difficult to capture since the contrast is very high.
A minor point is that the image does not flow between the jet and the child. If more of the fountain was included our eyes could travel from the fountain jet, to the child in one big U shape. Right now its sort of two subjects. The child at the rim, and a fountain jet...
I can see why you like it, the composition is neat and there is a lot of energy in the photo. I just think it could have been stronger...
