Anyone have any experience with this lens?

Im looking for a decent, light, small telephoto in this range. I wanted it for travel and when I needed to be descrete.

This seems to be the only option, but im afraid of it since I tried the old larger non DO 75-300 and 70-300 IS lenses and I hated them both.

Do they share similar optics? Or this lens outperforms its bigger sized brother?

Any sample picts?

I have one, and love it.

Small and light weight. good pictures.

Only issue I have is the lack of speed, needs a decently lit topic.
Auto-focus is a little unstable on my D60 as the light fades, it will search. Others have reported good activity on later cameras.

Physical warning: Be sure to lock the zoom when not in use, it will open on its own weight.

I like this lens and travel it often.

the 70-300 DO has very good build quality, like a rock, non rotating front barrel with fast and accurate ring USM, and is small in size, ohh and i believe it comes with the hood, but im afraid thats where the pros stop. IQ wise, especially for the price, it is certainly not king of the hill, infact the 70-300 IS (and i think even the older 75-300 IS) outresolve it in sharpness and image quality. im afraid if you were dissapointed with those two this one isnt going to be any better in IQ. the 70-300 IS is not much longer, not any heavier, and has better performance, for half the price. the 70-200 F4L is also a possibility, but none to stealthy in white.
