I am a newbie shooting with a cannon powershot A75, nothing fancy but a new camera is just not in the budget right now. I am taking indoor portraits of my daughter in a bay window with some ambient light. I don't like the look of a flash but I need more light for clarity. It has been suggested that I purchase a continuous 3 lamp flourescent daylight lamphead with a 16" diffuser for around $75 cdn. Is this good advice? And Do I need more than one of these. I just need something reasonably priced that will get the job done! Thanks for any tips!

I don't know how much more light you need but try a cheap white poster board to bounch more light into her face. Put the camera on a tripod and use the self timer which will allow you to use a slower shutter speed.
