What do you guys think of this lens, I have heard its a very sharp lens. If not this lens what would you sugest in its price range.

Ah. The 28-135. Some swear by it, others loathe it.
I love it! It isn't up to the quality of my L lenses, but sits on the front of my 10D more than the others combined. It is a good lens and, with such a generous "zoom" range, very versatile. And, of course, IS is a bonus.
Also, it isn't too big or heavy (or expensive :) ).

It is not L-glass and is not the sharpest lens in Canon's bag. However, it is an extremely versatile lens and its sharpness is definitely in the upper scale of lenses in this category. It's reasonably priced, not too heavy and has IS. It's a great walk-around lens and that's what I use mine for.
I never have any problem recommending this lens as it's one of the most used lenses in my bag.

And Neil and I were twins in a previous life! :D Too funny! Almost duplicate responses!

Indeed. :)
At least we back-up each other's opinions!

Denny,
Have to back up what the "Bobsie Twins" said.
I just got mine today and am very impressed with the images so far.
It will become my "walk around" lens.
The IS feature is great. Remeber to order a lens shade at the same time as you order the lens.

Thanks guys, Lens Hood, and I am guessing a B&W filter, which filter do you guys use, I see there are many models in that UV filter.

B&W, Canon, Hoya. Take your pick. I use Canon. They make the glass, they can surely make a filter.

I have a Hoya UV filter on mine, more as front element protection that anything else. :)

Another 28-135 IS fan here (Group hug guys). It tends to site on my 10D as the "default" lense.
I have a canon UV filter on mine.

Yet another fan joins the club :-)
This was my first lens, and not having the money for an L lens, it's still my favorite. It's definitely better (wayyy better actually) than my Canon 100-300 USM (it sucks!).

Yeh I have the 100-300 USM IS and never got on with it, just added the 100-400L and will start using it once I have done some weight training!!!!

I got this lens around 2 weeks ago and LOVE it. It is now my default lens as well. I have the 70-200 F4L as well and cant complain.
