I've only had this camera for a day and a half and I've been playing around with the camera today.
They are both shot at 800 ISO in Av mode. Taken with the 18-55mm kit lens. I realise they're pretty noisy because the lighting in my house is awful.
CC is welcome.

The first one is different, kind of like it. 2nd one is....good too but nothing stands out to me. IMO

I too, like the first one. It's a different perspective. It takes a few seconds to realize that it's not an image posted upside down, but a child reaching out to the camera. Cool!
You might erase the cloth in the upper right corner and erase the loose hair on the baby's eye.

I prefer #1. I rotated it though because even though it is oriented right I was having difficulty looking at it.

Thanks! I flipped it too and couldn't decide which way I prefered it so I left it the original way....... she sure is a cute model. I've been practising a lot with her because she always asks me to take a photo of her that allows me lots of practice as she loves it!

I have to think that what was missed here was the comment that you used the kit lens. Now these are pretty darn good for available light with that lens. And to get that sharpness at those f-stops indicates you have a pretty good copy of the lens....
And to top it off the images are really neat. The baby is cute, the colors are good, the composition is good, the light is quite nice. I think you did a great job.

Thanks skweekie and Titus213. Yeah ,she's pacifier(dummy) mad...... she's never far without them. I did sharpen them a bit but it brought out a bit more of the noise which was a little unfortunate. At 800 ISO I expected a whole lot more noise than what there was. I could never have done these shots with my A610, I'm amazed to be honest!

I like them both, but the second one is favourite. I virtually always prefer available light shots to flash, and I think you've done a pretty good job there.
cheers

They may be noisey when you look at them at 100% on your screen, but I see no noise on your posted images and hence none when you print. They look very sharp for the kit lens.

Thanks so much Bill, Urbandancer and Hellashot!
Here is the original for the first one. Just so you can compare the before and after PP'ing
