I'd really like to see something like this...especially if it comes with IS. I'm still waiting for that 200-400 f/4 IS. Canon, either one would be fine.:-P

they already make one: EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM.

I should clarify, I meant non-DO. I'm not particularly enamored by that technology. Besides, $5300 is a bit steep.:)

I don't think Canon will offer more than one lens of a given max aperture at this level. They have the 400 f2.8L IS, the 400 f4 DO IS, and the 400 f5.6L, and unless they abandon DO, I think that is it - with the possible exception of IS on the 5.6.

You're right, Rick. Just wishful thinking on my part. IS on the 5.6 would be okay, as long as the price is reasonable.
