I haven't had much feed back on a business name so I am going to try this approuach. I was thinking of the name "photography solutions" so what do you think? I hope to be able to sell just about everything that that has to do with photography from film, digital, and medium format. Along with printers, papers, storage, editing programs, etc. Any feedback would be great.

1. catchy
2. crappy

I like photographic solutions better, imo
not to jump off thread too much, but thats a mighty big venture into a already saturated market with little profit.

Doesn't say what it really is. But I guess Costco doesn't either! lol Good luck in a business with slim profit margins and very competitive business. I sued to see folks try these things in the 80's when golf was bigger than now. People would all go to these stores and then mail order from some low profit mega company where they didn't have to pay tax (see BHphot et. al)

Most photographers today are branding their names, be proud of your work and clients will know who they're hiring instead of Sears Portraits, Search names withing goggle and see whats already taken and go from there.
Nothing against Sears

Yes I must admit i have been thinking about that(using my name that is). And your right I should be proud. So I am thinking of going with something simple and easy to remember like" Murtaughs Photo". It's not flashy but shouldn't be hard to remember. I plan on starting with just products for sale and then move into selling my services. I just love photography and everything about it. I am not out to get rich, just want to be able to pay the bills and put some food on the table. And the wife completly supports me so that makes it so much easier. I know there are low profits, and long days ahead, but hey I am doing something I love all day everday and making it. Who else can say that.

You seem to be putting allot weight on those here to come up with a name for you. Have you decided on a website name or does that have to match your company name. You want to have something that is easy to remember and easy to type.
Have you done a business plan. Starting a venture like this is probably going to require someone else's money (read bank) for startup and ongoing operations for a period of time. Have you actually done a detailed one that is presentable to a lending institution, one that has projections, market share, demographics, profit and loss statements, the list can go on and on. You have to be honest and sell this to yourself and then if you really think it is a viable opportunity the next test is to try and sell it to someone that is no using their money to help you along.
I don't want to rain on your parade and in fact I would love to see anyone succeed at something like this. The name seems to be down the list behind a number of other things that come to come into place first.
