The latch on my battery door broke for some reason, i'm not getting a battery grip until i get a pritner, 100-400L and 550EX, all of which will take a very long time to obtain.

I'm wondering if anyone who has a battery grip would give me, or sell me their old battery door?

Give Canon a call and buy a replacement.

obviously i could do that, and i may end up doing it.

But if any of you have one laying around that your not and will most likely never use, i'd apreciate it.

not sure if anyone would want to part with their battery door...even though i do have a grip and havent taken if off since putting it on....its comforting for me to know that the door is there to put back on when, if ever there is a need to.

looks like a visit to your local canon dealer is in order :D

I guess not many people bought the two-door model.

Bummer.

The warranty should still be valid right?

(

Did they even make a four-door model that year? Or was it the two-door one with the racing stripe?

Canons warranty is good, and i have a 4 year full replacement plan with best buy, i'd just rather not deal with it right now.

timmyquest got mine from best buy, 18 months interest free, got the 4 year warranty as well, why not call them see if they have one in the store, drive over show them your current one and say you need it for your trip this weekend see if they are welling to swap, I think its part of the warrantee plan, I might be wrong but it won't hurt trying. I know the feeling of not having my Drebel with me just for one day  Good Luck!

Regards,
Ferdinand

I work at a best buy in texas, and the only way they will give you a new camera if they determine it will cost more than the camera itself to replace, than the repair. So if you tell them that your lcd screen keeps going out, then they will replace the camera, but (there is always a "but") you will have to fork over another $100 bucks for the 4 year preformance service plan on the new camera.

I would buy the batterygrip if it is around 100 dollars. by the way, how much do those run?

now THERE's a testamonial to why you DON'T waste your hard earned dollars on those "warranty plans" that are offered by the likes of BestBuy, CircuitCity, et al.

Another $100 to "reinitialize" the warranty on the relpacement item?

I am going to call "BS" on that one.

On those warrantys you have to wait till the third year of the camera and something will just "happen" to go wrong with the camera :wink: So you take the camera back to best buy and put that 1000 dollars toward the new model. It is just like renting the camera for three years and only paying 100 dollars. Not a bad deal at all.

100 insurence for accidently dropping my camera, for a burnt out camera, etc for a $1000 item is just fine by me
