um, the net is too in focus? could you have blurred it a bit? kinda distracting with it being all sharp as it is...

I actually don't mind that net is sharp. It makes photo a bit different. I don't know how light it was, but I have feeling your problem is with metering. It's just way too dark and if you had camera set to one of program modes this explains it. With those two reflectors pointing straight at camera, it can get fooled easily. So try manual and try to make it all a bit lighter :)
But it's problem if this is happening when day is going into night. You can't change stuff in middle of game, since you are not allowed to go to camera, so it might be, that your manual settings would be fine just for 10 mins and completely useless for rest of game.
Otherwise compositions and action on photo and timing is working really great for me.

how did you set this up ??
what mode ect
what lens
hopefully Gavin will come along and give us a wee tutorial in setting up for this
I have often though about giving it a go
even with my old 300D and one of those zap shot controllers
only on decent lighted days though
set the iso quite high
manually focus around the 6 yard line
set the cam to shutter priority and about 1/500 or 1/640
and let the cam work out the aperture that would hopefully be high
to get more in focus
but I am probably way off the mark somewhere
just dont have a zap shot yet to try it ??

Hi,
Thanks for the comments,
the les is a sigma 15-30 ex dg thing! and it was a school boy error with the setting, 1/500 @ F4, didn't take inot accounf dropping light!
My only concern with TV mode is it being fooled due to pointing at the sky.
