I have a chance to get a 28-70 f/2.8L for $615.00

The date code is UM, it is about 5 years old, but is in perfect shape...

is this a deal worth grabbing, even if i really don't need it at the moment?

I don't want to miss a super deal, and money isn't the issue... but if the deal can't be beaten, I'll grab it.

HELP!

Oh it comes with a 6 month full warranty. the average price on FM is 950 or so...

What do you think?

Go for it. The current 24-70 goes for ~$900-950USD second hand and ~$1100 new. With a 6 month warranty it's a no-brainer.

^^^ what they said! Do it. you can always resell if it doesn't please you!

Did you really expect different advice from a fairly enthusiastic bunch of Canon fans?

Go for it!

there aren't any serious issues with the date though are there?

I tried it out, it is super nice, but the zoom mechanism seems just a bit "loose" like not as much friction as my 6 month old L... I have it on hold at the store, and the conversion rate is great right now, thus the low price. thx for the help, keep comments coming.
