Haven't been to active here the last month, so don't know if this is covered already, but according to one of Norway's biggest IT-sites report that Canon France indeed have slipped the info for the 1D killer (1D II). Guess most guys here don't read norwegian so I'll just translate the article as best I can:

Information about Canons new digital pro-slr EOS 1D II was by a mistake published on Canons french website.

The information have now been removed, but was online long enough for the photo-enthusiasts to notice yesterday.

the "in-between" model
The camera have support for SecureDigital-cards along with the traditional CF-interface. With it's 8.2MP resolution, the camera will place itself between the top-model 1Ds, and the cheaper 10D. It will therefore likely be targeted both to pro's and advanced amatours. The camera can take up to 8.5 fps and got buffer-space for 40 pictures. Price and release-date is yet to be announced.

Canon have also previously been unlucky with it's PR-material. In September 2002 they also slipped the information about the Canon 1Ds on web, one week before the official announcement at the Photokina-exchibition in Köln, where the model was meant to be the big surprise.

But as with anything you got to be critical to the source. They write like they've seen the leak themself, but they don't confirm it in the text. Although it now seems likely that the specs have been leaked, this might of course (but higley unlikely) be a carefully crafted Canon-spoof by intention to fool us all.
