View Full Version : Problem using apostrophe (') in Exhibition titles

Whenever I use an apostrophe in the title of an exhibition, I get " ' " instead.
For example, if I typed in "George's Photos", I would end up with "George's Photos"
Is there a way to trick EE into just using the " ' " mark?

No that is a bug if it happens, (should not but I believe you :)). I cannot reproduce it here.
What EE version?
Is this on some editor pages only, or in all pages?
Check "editor/server info/Display full PHP info" and there near beginning lines
magic_quotes_gpc
magic_quotes_runtime
Two values (Local Value / Master Value) per each line - What do they say?

It's EE v.1.22. I downloaded and installed it before I saw the links to get the newer beta versions.
The " ' " shows up only on the main public EE page that lists all the galleries. I guess that would make it index.php in the root folder. I'll PM you a link to the site I'm running it on.
I'll check the values you mention above when I get home from work.

I've tried turning both of these values on and off, and then having one on and one off. I've tried all combinations and nothing seems to work. In fact, when I have magic_quotes_runtime set to "on", I get three \\\ marks in front of the ('). Turning magic_quotes_gpc on or off has no effect either way. Neither does turning magic_quotes_sybase on or off.
I'm stumped. Got any ideas?

Doh! I just figured out a workaround.
I have to use the "character entities" code for (') to get it to work, but that does the trick. In other words, I have use ALT+0146 to make the apostrophe instead of typing it. Go figure.
