I've just noticed on the Canon website that a firmware update is available for the IXUS II and IXUS400. I got to both of the links below by selecting the relevant camera from here :
http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital/index.asp?ComponentID=25190&SourcePageID=25108#2
The IXUS II update appears to overcome some compatibility problems with the IXUS II and some other makes of SD card. It also makes the camera PictBridge compliant if it isn't already and can be found here :
http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/ixus2/ixus2_firmware-e.html
The IXUS400 update appears to make the camera PictBridge compliant, if it's not already and can be found here :
http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/IXUS400/ixus400_firmware-e.html
Sorry if this is old news - just thought some people might have missed it !
NB. I'm not recommending that you actually update the firmware unless you have specific need to - it looks like it's not a risk-free process and I've not done it myself yet !! Has anyone actually done it successfully ?
