The day after the Destination Zero gig, a split off from that band climbed the Atak stage again.
This band is called 'RosDroplos' which freely translates to something like 'Beat away' or 'Hit the crap out of it'.
Fun band, not too serious, with songs like 'Markies de Sade is een mietje' (Marquis de Sade was a sissy).
The evening consisted of four local bands, all images can be found here (http://www.moonglade.net/rene/060930HerfstOffensief/index.htm).
In this thread, I'm only showing two bands, because I liked them best...
#1: Singer of 'Mildred Pierce':

#2: Bass player of the same band:

#3: Singer of 'RosDroplos':

#4 With a bit of camera shake:

#5: DJ of 'RosDroplos', former Destination Zero member:

#6: Pretty wild on stage:

#7: Acting their act:

#8 Bandshot:

Equipment as always, 1D2 with 20 to 200mm focal lenghts, bandshot with 20-35L; fully opened; 580EX on camera. 550 EX in the back.
C&C welcome.

Very interesting stuff ... the guitarist with the spikey shoulder strap must be with the group that thinks Sade was a Sissy! :-) I am all too familiar with bands that reconstitute over and over. #6 is nifty ... what is that guy doing?

Basically, one is screaming his lungs out, the other is abusing an already bedraggled guitar.
Oh, and there is the DJ.

Aha, I thought the one without an instrument was maybe fixing a broken audio component 'on the fly' ... so we have a singer, guitar AND a DJ?

Nah, thes guys don't fix broken equipment, they continue to play with it. Seen the guitar? It managed to get out of tune between songs, and there were some buttons in it hangin' on by the cables ;)
The singer was a 'guest performer' IIRC. The band is two members (Singer/guitarist and DJ/Sample abuser).

Oh. So now I wonder if music is evolving frontwards or backwards!

Definately forward. This is a step upward in complexity from The Exploited for instance. And these guys think more then The Ramones for another. Energy is about the same though: Hey Ho Let's Go!
Cozy, isn't it: A thread just for the two of us

This is the fourth time I'm checking the photos out Rene'...however, I'm on dial up and not all photos loaded every time...So here goes...
I think the almost B&W photo # two, is just plain fantastic...it is classic and yet it's in color too...It sort of looks holly, like he's a Saint in a church painting...
The golden hair in the golden light from photo # one has some nice amber, browns and yellow tones in it and is very interesting too...
the energy in the profile shot in # three, is powerful and really got my attention the first time, and every time there after...# 4, is very powerful, but almost too much for me, especially after seeing # 3...
#5, is interesting because it is very sharp and the lighting and exposure is excelent...
#6. made me wonder if this was also an electronics work station for a techno geek, building his computer on stage...It's still interesting...
# 7. and # 8 are good action shots, the one is a bit blurry while the last one looks a bit grainy or loud? But the subjects of both photos are interesting...
I guess I could have written this a few days ago too. but the pictures are so different, especially # 3 and # 4, that It puzzled me as to how to consider their appearance...
Therefore the Hottest photo of this set goes to # 2...

Sometimes it just requires patience, Rene. :D BTW, I am trying to work 800 pixel images into my workflow. As it stands, except for those Porta galleries I do everything by hand and it takes too long. If I get there then I will post big images here again that always seem to get a better reception than the links.

Thanks!
Yeah, patience isn't one of my strong points ;)
@ johnstoy: I'd say #7 is more then *a bit* blurry  1/40s obviously wasn't fast enough. I should have opened up the aperture...
#8 is processed quite a bit (partly convert to B/W with channel mixer layer; layer on top of that with blend mode 'multiply' which is softened; curves), and has noise added.
There is also a bit motion blurr.
Original straight out of the camera would have looked like this:

@ Dwight: Can't you make an 'action' in your editing software? So with the push of one button, the image you are working on gets saved as full res layered TIF, then sharpened for web and saved at, say 1000px in a seperate folder, then scaled down to 800px, and saved in yet another folder?
I think that's what I would do. Or just work on & save the originals, and later use a batch to resize them to whatever sizes needed.

Rene, the problem isn't creating the images, it is putting them on the web: creating the HTML and uploading. If I wasn't always doing a 1000 other things and just set aside a couple of days I could probably work something out but since there is no pay for such a project it goes to the bottom of the pile which rarely gets smaller. At the moment I have tax preparation (filing receipts then entering into Excel), November invoices for my work, updating truck log (for taxes), organizing new format for disk backups (now that I have two machines again) and downloading/installing/configuring, reviewing 20D and wireless remote function for upcoming boxing matches, learning Fireworks functions for replacing image in SATOS header with Shalonda, and that's just the top of the photography list. I also have my day job and my family. As you can see, learning RAW processing isn't on the top! :-)

Rene,
Sorry I've been busy saving the world against teenagers sneaking cameras into venues. I'm not having much luck....today's kids.
I really dig 2 and 3. I'm not sure if you did it on purpose but it is nice to see the other musician get his due in #3 and not be blocked by the mic stand.

Rene', I like the original of number 8 (minus the toilet sign) in posting page #11 way better...
It's better than your first posting of it as number 8 in posting page #1...

What do you use for that?
I put a gallery online using iView Media Pro (http://www.iview-multimedia.com/), which I also use for DAM. Not the greatest layout (but editable; if I ever find the time ;)), but it works fast & easy. Resizes images, and makes thumbs and the HTML.

Whahaha! LMAO
I kinda noticed.
I think it's more attitude then age though...

Actually, yes, that was intentional. Or rather, I saw it in time to make a second series: in the first series he was blocked ;)

I don't think so ;)
I tend to give most band shots off stage the same processing. I like the look.
Back in the film days I used to cross process, or soften during printing
What is it you don't like? Tho softness, the grain, the lesser saturation?
johnstoy

it's the grain on the guitarist's face...
plus the original has more pleasant color tones...I like the original saturation...
