Yes, very cool. I might suggest cropping to get the red fence out of the right part of frame or clone it out. That red really draws my eyes.

I don't have a problem cloning out objects such as fence posts or other objects such as sign posts etc but I think cloning out the fence which is actually part of the course would be completely changing the scene so I will leave it as is.. but do appreciate your input

Couple of horses up the street are my best friends when I just need a few minutes of quiet therapy. One will just about go to sleep on me when I scratch him around his chest and shoulder area. I usually stop by their paddock a couple times a week after lunch because it is so quiet and peaceful up there that time of day.

It just takes getting used to being around them. If you are anything but calm, they'll pick up on it.

Their comment is in response to a post I did which I deleted. I just feel you can't tell from that angle in that photo so you can't really comment on whether she is fat or not.

Oh goodness, look at all that feather! LOVE it.

I'm an Arab enthusiast at heart and can barely handle my older mare's long mane, so keeping a feather-sporting breed pretty would be beyond me... but it's nice to look at!

These guys are on a neigbour's farm. They're really friendly and amble over to the fence to say hello whenever I stop my car. I couldn't shoot any wider as I had my long lens on and was shooting from my driver's seat on a very cold day ;)

This was my mothers newest show horse, but on Christmas eve she found it lying out in the field with almost no strength. Turns out it had contracted a bacteria that was eating it's intestinal lining. He was put down a few days later.

Go to my website (below, in my sig). The very first image that comes up in my slideshow was taken with an AE-1. It was probably in the 80's! Technically, it ain't great. But my wife and I were driving in western Nebraska, going between horse shows, and my wife saw this stallion standing on this hill. I jumped out and shot it. No time for metering or any planning before he walked off. I just fired off a couple shots. As I said, technically it isn't that good. But it represents a time of our life when when we were having a great time. Just a photo that has a lot of meaning for me so to this day one of my favorites.

For some stupid reason a few years ago I sold my AE-1 on Ebay. Regretted it ever since.

... which brings me to reiterating what I often remind my friends = Get good photos of the animals you love because life can quickly change and you might miss your chance. Your opportunity is lost when they're gone (always too soon). I'm so glad I shot portraits of my mares a few years back. ..

Just above your photo on the Flickr page is a drop down that says "share". When you hit that you will get some code that shows up. Click anywhere in the box containing the code and it will be selected. Hold down "ctrl" on your keyboard and then hit the "c" to copy that code. Now go to your message that you're writing here on the forum, put the cursor where you want the photo, hold down "ctrl" and hit "v" to paste in the copied code. Don't worry about the inset image tool.

Thanks, these are other riders from my training barn. We have quite a few high level horses considering we're not on the east coast. We have another show in Dallas this weekend that I'm not riding so I'll be there shooting with my new Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 OS. Brown truck is supposed to drop it off tomorrow. Those were shot with the Canon 70-200 f/4L IS on the 50D. It was a fantastic lens but I sometimes had a hard time blurring out a distracting background. The one stop won't make a big difference but, every little bit helps. I'm also going to experiment with the Sigma and a 1.4x TC on my 5DII and see if that helps.

In all honesty, I didn't actually take this picture. My trainer picked up my camera while I was riding and snapped some shots of Socrates and I. He is my Dutch Warmblood dressage horse. He's a son of Idocus and has shown through Intermediare 1. He's my schoolmaster; I just started dressage and am doing training level this year.

I'm having trouble deciding between the black and white and color for this shot. :oops: Thoughts?

I'm sort of spitting against the wind, here: working on a laptop and using its monitor and my Samsung LED to try to find a balance.The laptop's screen is a bit dark while the saturation on the larger monitor is wrong (so the grass looks neon, but having seen it on another monitor I think it falls in between my two displays). Santa, if you're bored in the off-season, please bring me a calibrator!
