I have a 430EX, unfortunately I dropped it and now the lcd screen on the back ceases to work. The flash seems to work ok, only problem is that I can't tell what mode or settings are selected. I was thinking of getting it fixed, but i'm assuming that the repair bill would be around 200.00 and i'd be without a flash for months. I need a new flash before next week..... so here is the problem
I have read tons of posts and reviews on all the flash units but it comes down to these choices for me,
1. buy another 430EX = 320.00
2. buy a Sigma 500 Super DG = right now on sale for around 270.00
3. try and get mine repaired
I am tempted by the Sigma, but I really like the Stofen omnibounce... i currently have one for my 430ex so i wouldn't have to buy a new one. If i buy one for the Sigma that puts the price about even with the 430ex, so there really is no price difference. I don't care about master/slave functions, because I recently bought a Profoto monolight kit, so I doubt i'd ever need a multiple flash setup
