Have a look at these self portraits. No need to tell me I am stunningly handsome but please let me know about the overall er.... overallness of the shots.

Both are very nice shots but I prefer the first. The second one has the stuff but i cannot get over the fact that it becomes out of focus from the lower lip down.
I realy think these would be gold in B/W but anyhow, good stuff. :)

Yes!!! This will have more impact in B&W.
I seem to prefer the 2nd one..........The eye contact really makes it more powerful (something thats missing on the 1st shot).
Please try it in B&W and post it here............I would like to see the results.
Thanks...
BTW, very good capture/mood.

I would try for a little more DOF. Need to bump that F stop down to 4 or 5 maybe. The first pic has chin in focus, but eyebrows start to fall off, the second is losing focus below the lips.
With your external EX flash, bump the shutter speed up to 1/2000 in Tv mode and zoom in as much as you can (space available where you are shooting). This will give you the higher F stop, but you may loose some DOF due to the zoom factor.
Alternative is to soften the internal flash with some tissue paper or something and then try the 1/2000 Tv mode, this will give you a F8 setting usually, then you will not have to zoom either.
