If you rotate the boxes so as to be able to read the artwork then you have bought yourself either an Australian copy of CS or an Australian zoom lens. I do hope you filled out the order form correctly!
Lucky you - LOTS of late nights ahead.

Late night,. hmmm will it be spent shooting photos of canned goods on the kitchen counter or turning a bunch of older shots into watercolors with PS filters....???

Third option might be available light photography of garden gnomes and then playing with levels in PS until they become visible

Andy

I think the composition of the photgraph is poor. You should show case the products better and maybe experiment with lighting.

Hopefully, these items will help you with these short comings.

Just kidding, Can you tell I am jealous?

I almost didnt post it because of that, I was waiting on this coment. Actually I was expecting. "By the looks of that picture you need more than a lens and software" But hey, I am learning amazing how much you seem to know about photography until you get digital. Its a lot of learning all over again.

I have to admit I thought digital would leave room for error, now I understand that it is film that gives you more tolerance.

Really? How so? Because of the dynamic range?

I figured if you were off a little on exposure with digital it could easily be corected with software, I find that shooting in digital is a lot like shooting slides, you have to be right on. Again I am VERY new to digital and every time I learn something I find it easier so maybe in time it will be as forgiving as film. But for me it is making me a better photographer because I am still shooting for a great image right off the Compact Flash. I am not wanting to rely on my editing to make good pics.

This is what Fedex brought me today!
Not an L lens, but still I'm excited.
Obviously this one came from Antarctica...

BTW, I am one of the few who LOVES post processing. :)
Well, perhaps "like" is a better word.

I got one of those a couple weeks ago and love it, just got some 8X10's from portraits I made with that lens.

Very nice!
How did the 8x10's look when printed?

What sort of lighting/backdrop arrangement did you use? I like it.

Btw, one post processing tip I like to use to really make the eyes sparkle (not that they don't already in your picture)...

Using the lasoo tool select both eyes (actually the pupils, the area with colour), maybe with a 1 or 2 pixel feather (you dont have to do this if you have a fairly steady hand).
Then select the dodge tool and for "range" select highlights. Set the exposure to around 15% (or use a pressure sensitive tablet), and then start to brush the eyes. You will really see the highlights start to dance. Also, I sometimes follow up with the sharpen tool.
It's subtle, but it's one of my favs.

See! Post-processing can be fun!

They came out crystal clear, I have just started learning PS CS so this was taken in L Jpeg and coppied to disk, no editing was done, I look forward to learning this part of it. I will have to learn to leave me a little more room to crop, I am used to what you shoot is what you get.
