Was asked a few weeks ago last minute to shoot a friends gig, I don't usually do alot of this type of photography, and figured I could always use the experience. Any C+C will be welcome.

I only have my kit lens (still!), so everything is still limited to that, with some turning out better than others. Shot mostly in Tv, with varying shutter speeds depending on the current lighting scheme.

Thanks!

Very little availiable light... Difficult bordering on impossible.

Next time use ISO 1600, will give you a stop faster shuttertime. A 50/1.8 might help as well, allthough most images were taken at a (lot) shorter FL). So maybe a 35/2.0 or 28/1.8 would be a better choice, but more expensive.

#6 would have been nice if in focus, I like #2 and3, but there is some room for technical improvement ;)

I'd use Av with the aperture fully opened. In situations like this, you want the fastest shutterspeed you can get, so the lens will be fully opened anyway.

If desperate, I'd shoot the highest ISO availiable, use RAW, and use (a bit) -EC (so underexpose) to get hand holdable shutterspeeds, and correct exposure in DPP. This will give lots of noise though...

Rene said it all! Maybe a little bounce flash. You might also consider a table top tripod. This looks like a quite young band.
