Thanks guys. This was pretty odd behaviour. They were lined up side by side with their noses in the water, sleeping. Every now and then, they'd dive in to get wet, then come back out and shake and sit in the sun. They did this pose for about 20 mintues, at one point, they were sleeping like this. :)

Cynthia, these are Muskrats. They generally build little cone shaped huts like a beaver does, but smaller. In this case, they apparently built right into the bank of the slough instead, since there are no reeds around to use for construction materials. They are veggies, but will eat crawfish, fish and I've seen them chasing the ducks around, but not sure they could catch one or do anything with it if they did. :)
