I just started using this to desaturate images and I think it comes out way nicer than the desaturate option. The first time I did it I was able to adjust the slider and get a sepia toned image but now I can't figure out how I did that at all. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

This is what I do:
1. Select Gradient map in the layers palette (the icon that looks like a circle that's half black and half white).
2. In the dialog that comes up, double click on the gradient to open up the editor of the gradient tool.
3. In there, make sure you have the black to white selected (easier that way)
4. In the lower bar of the gradient place a click somewhere near 25%
5. Double click on the color selector below to add the color you want - try hex value #71482f or something near that color.
6. Then add a new color step at around 70% which is grey in the color selector I set that to hex value #b9b9b9.
7. Save it or just click ok and you're done.

An example with this technique, although a bit shallow DOF - but I grabbed a image I had close. :D
