G5 Flash Problem

I have a G5 that was working fine until yesterday .... could use some help

Was taking flash pictures with internal flash ....worked fine
Then took pictures with 430ex external flash .... worked fine
Removed 430ex and the internal flash no longer worked!
Took pictures with 430ex external flash ...worked fine

The flash button that cycles through the flash, no flash, auto flash options no longer works ..and the flash icon no longer shows on LCD display on camera.

Have tried the following:
- all modes on the camera ..., no internal flash, no flash icons and the flash button does not work
- removed battery, reinserted after a minute ...no help
- reset firmware ...no help
- reloaded firmware upgrade after a reset ...no help

So, the question is, has anyone had similar problems? ...any suggestions?

Or have I simply fried some circuitry on the G5 and in need of surgery.

OK .... after a couple of hours on the internet I found the problem. Here is the story.

On dpreview I found an item that said 'if an external flash is mouned on the G5, it will always fire' and I found an item that said 'if an external flash is on the G5 then the flash button will not work and icon on the G5 will disappear'.

Well I took a good lock at the camera and guessed that one of the springs that holds the flash shoe in place is also a micro switch for telling the G5 if an external flash is present or not .... it seems that it is, and it was stuck in the down position. Used a paper clip to lift up ...and voila the flash button and internal flash work once again.

To test the theory, I placed the paper clip back into the flash shoe reataining slot on the left side ...and the button and icon are disabled.

So I am pretty sure that is the problem/solution.
