What a week. I have just become the proud grandfather to a new bouncing baby boy, and have just received my long awaited Canon 300mm f2.8 L IS USM Lens.:lol:

Congratulations Newpic! I have 4 grandkids and I kinda know how you're feeling right about now. You're going to love being a grandfather.

Oh, and congrats on the new L lens! Have fun!

Way to go Grandpa :) I have five grandkids and love them them more than life!

Now take that new lens, back up 1/4 a mile, and take some portraits of that new grandbaby :)

i bought the 300 2.8 in february. i am still in shock over this lens.
the pictures look lifelike and i'm still only using it on a 10d

I just bought this lense also. Is the focus ring supposed to feel alittle loose?

Nope the focus ring on my 300 f2.8 is not loose, did you buy it new ?

Congrats are two great things in your life! I'm not trying to steal your thread but I had to post this shot from yesterday in the Fl. keys -with my 300mm f/2.8. This lens is fun to use.

I bought it brand new, When it came I didn't notice the focus ring being loose in the front to back direction. After 2 days of use is when I noticed to problem. Maybe I should send it in for service.

To be honest I have not had the chance to use my 300f2.8 yet, maybe its OK. Could some other member advise Bryno 74 if he has a problem lens.

If it's that new, instead of sending it in, why not just exchange it?
