Dumbest S3 IS question ever

i'm a newb of the camera...

for the image stabilizer...do i have to turn on the option, or does the camera initialize it for me?

when its need...on the viewfinder it flashes in red...just like the flash warning when its needed...

i'm stumped because i can't find anythign on the menus...unless i'm not lookin the right place

In Rec. mode pres Menu, find IS Mode, choose one of the four options available:

Continuous.
Shoot Only
Panning
Off

Continuous is the default mode, but better check the menu to confirm.
