Here's a shot I took yesterday while waking back to the car after
sunset. This was taken with the 20D and 500 f4.5L with 1.4x
TC handheld (braced by a fence post). AV mode, 700mm, f8,
AV mode, 1/50 sec.

1 Don't know what's up with the wing, but he seemed to fly ok

2 Pair of White-tailed Kites I took a little while earlier

(ISO 800, f7.1, 700mm, 1/640 sec handheld)

Not the greatest shots, but I though they came out ok considering the conditions.
I when back this morning to see if I could get them in the day light, but
they weren't around.

To get the white tailed hawks George is a feat in itself. I would be more than pleased to get these framed in my camera.
Nice colour to the shot of the Coopers Hawk in the sunlight and perhaps he is saying bye-bye to you George by giving you a wave.

Tony,

Thanks for your kind words. I always appreciate your comments.
By the way, here are the shots that I wish turned out better.

2-1 Too much motion blur

2-2 Not enough detail, oh well...

That's what happens to me, the best poses end up being blurry! Don't you just hate it?
But you did get some good shots!

Thanks Mitch, Karen and Mr the Kid. This was one of those
times I really wish I had lugged the tripod out, but I wasn't really
expecting to see these here. This was on the Berkeley Landfill,
near the marina. They had justed closed off this area, and are
turning it into a wetlands park.
