View Full Version : Photoshop versus PaintShop Pro

I'm a super happy PaintShop Pro user but it seems like everyone else is using Photoshop. That in itself would be no problem but I would like to try Ultra-Sharpen and it sounds like it is really optimal under Photoshop. I understand that I can use it in stand-alone mode if I buy the full version (which I would do anyway).

The thing that I didn't like about Photoshop was the user interface. I own both packages but vastly prefer working with PSP. I would appreciate some advice. Is Ultra-Sharpen worth making the software switch?

Thank you,

Tom Brown

Tom,

I have Ultra Sharpen Pro, but I don't use it in PS any more. I find that the results I get with Fred Miranda's EdgeSharpen Pro or the built-in sharpening with LinearSharpen are just as good, if not better.

If you are a D30 user, then Pekka's LinearSharpen 3.42 is a much more compelling reason to switch.

I use both PSP 7.0 and PS 6.0 and I have found that
the thumbnail browser of PSP is invaluable but the
screen images are too bright compared to PS. The
darker images of PS match almost perfecrly with
my printer but the same image printed with PSP is
too light. I see in the review mentioned above that
PSP 7.0 has the thumbnail browser. Good! but still not
worth $150!
