I had a running installation of 2.01 and then it crashed. i wanted to reinstall it. So I put version 1.5rc4 and then updated to 2.0 then 2.01. When I rty to acces the db I get a blank screen:

Unable to connect to the selected database server at this time
PLEASE PRESS REFRESH ON YOUR BROWSER TO TRY AGAIN.

Server: localhost
Access denied for user 'dbuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

When I login with phpMyadmin, the database is there, with 99 tables. The connection settings in SETUP_settings are correct.

How can I access the EE database? IS there any other place where I should setup connection data? Thanks

I am not sure if 2 has the connect.php but find the file and make sure the settings are right. in 1.5 it is in the YourGallery/add/connect.php

Did you thought of adapting the DB name, DB User and DB Password in the settings file of your new installation?

Yosemite: The same info is in SETP_settings now.
UweB: While superficially tempting, I don't think that is the solution. Particularly as my previous installation of version 2.0 worked before. This time I set up a new database and entered its contact info version 1.5 before upgrading. The upgrading process itself yielded no error message.

Pekka, others, any thoughts? Many thanks to all.

UweB I think I have misunderstood what you were saying. What file were you specifically thinking of?

I meant the settings file of EE2 which is here: basecode/SETUP_settings.php

I have the solution: it is the preferences.php file in the backup settings
