I have a G6 with a lensmate 52mm adaptor and the Hoya 2-element macro lens. This works great and I love the +10 magnification on the Hoya. I would like to add to this a ring flash, preferably the Canon MR-14 EX.
Question - can these items work together? It looks as if Canon has an adaptor to be used from their 58mm macro lens to the ring flash. Does this mean that to use the Hoya macro lens with the ring flash I need to add a step up ring onto the Hoya lens, onto which I add the flash adaptor? Has anyone else used this type of setup?
Or, should I scrap the 52mm arrangement and go with a lensmate 58mm, Canon's 58mm macro (only a +4 dioptor), the Canon adaptor and the ring flash.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
