Can anyone help. Just before xmas I brought a 10D which I have been
very pleased with, but I only shoot in large JPEG as it takes so long to
convert the files if I shoot in RAW. I have heard of a plugin for photoshop 7 which you are able to open a RAW file directly into photoshop 7, but
I can not seem to find it. When I search for it the only thing I come up
with is Photoshop CS. I understand that you have to alter the plugin with
a hex editor to make it work with the 10D. Can anyone piont me in the
right direction and has anyone used it and how do they find it works.

Thank

Mark

I don't think you are able to purchase the plugin for photoshop 7 any more, as it is now improved and included in photoshop CS. I've read of many others in the same boat. Sadly, you would have thought adobe would have continue to allow it to be purchase, especially at the $99 price mark. There has to be a lot of 7 users still out there.

For another $70 above the cost of the ACR plugin ($169 CS upgrade price, I assume you have a licensed version of PS7), you can get the RAW converter and a lot more functionality: enhanced 16-bit editing, Shadow/Highlight adjustment, histogram palette, etc.

I suggest you just get the CS version. You'll like it.

In the PS EULA, it say's you can give it away if you don't retain any copies yourself. I think that would apply to the ACR plugin.

I'm interested in a copy of the PS 7.0 Raw Plug-In for my 10D (hacked). I'm not planning to upgrading to PS CS anytime soon. I really love Adobe PS, but I'm just getting comfortable using PS 7 and can't stand relearning PS all over again every time they come out with a new version! It seems like every new version is an 80% new learn experience!

For what it's worth.....I was also very comfortable with PS7, but upgraded to CS just for the RAW support. I find there's very much more in there, but none of it really requires re-learning any of the things you already know. The look and feel of PS8 is very much like PS7. I'm glad I made the jump.

It really doesn't sound worthwhile, even if it was free -

Hi,

If anyone out there does have the raw plugin and does not require
it anymore I would be glad to take it of your hands maybe we
could come to an arrangment for payment at least this way I get
what I want and you get something back.

Cheers

Okay... Okay... I studied the changes and decided to upgrade to CS. I really like the new features.... but best of all, I convinced my employer to pay for the upgrade. :D
